Abstract

Abstract One of the formidable challenges for management is how to foster and enhance information technology application maturity (ITAM). The existing methodology for examining this issue assumes completely known information. But this is rarely the case in information system (IS) research. By leveraging grey system modelling (GM), this paper examines the impact of enterprise institutional capacity (IC) on information technology application maturity (ITAM), under an assumption of incomplete information. Grey correlation analysis and GM(1,1) results show that IC positively influences ITAM overall but the effect varies across the different dimensions of ITAM and across the different enterprise IT applications stages. Our findings suggest that enterprises should focus on IC construction and cultivation and be aware of the multi-factor influences on ITAM. Keywords: grey correlation, GM(1,1), institutional capacity, IT application maturity
